Underwater welding is a kind of welding done at the off-shore or in marine.The process is classified according to materials used. Welding is a process of joining metal pieces by use of heat,pressure or both and with or without extra metal to form a bond that is accompanied by appreciated inter-atomic penetration at a joint surface.
This kind of welding is categorized into dry and wet welding.In wet welding water-proof stick electrode from filler metal are used and it is done manually just as in offshore, while hyperbaric (wet) welding is done under a sealed chamber.Their various techniques of welding that can be done underwater such as Friction and Laser welding which are advance and shield metal arc welding, flux cored arc welding and tungsten inert gas welding.
Underwater welding skills has several applications such as ships repair, retaining the quality of underwater pipelines and oil platforms, its also risk because it can cause electric shock.
